10 HABITS THAT CHANGED MY LIFE
If we look into the lives of some successful people, we will find that they all have some similarities in their everyday lifestyles. They give proper attention to habits that nurture their productivity, efficiency, punctuality, mental and physical health, personal and social responsibilities. They first manage themselves so that they are abundantly capable to serve other purposes of their lives.
In this fast-paced world, there is a large section of human beings who are getting transformed into robots. Often they find themselves sad and frustrated. They wonder about so many things.
Why am I often getting sick lately?
Why do I no longer enjoy the company of my family and friends?
Why am I not getting anywhere even when I am putting my all?
Why do I feel exhausted on reaching home?
Why my grades are falling?
Why my juniors are getting promoted over me?
Why my work can’t get finished on time?
I have been bold all my life, but why do even small challenges scare me now?
The list is endless but if you find such questions frequently surfacing your mind, it’s time for self-analysis. Your energy and liveliness are derailing. This is a call for action. Today they may be just a few reoccurring thoughts, but soon they will manifest themselves in a graver manner. Toxic life habits possess the tendency to take the control of life and drive till the point of no return.
Below is a list of 10 of my own tested and tried habits that I have incorporated into my life. I can’t emphasize how much my life has been transformed over the years. Sure the process was difficult and slow in the beginning but the labor was so worth it.
1. Proper sleep schedule –
During sleeping the when we are at complete rest. All our voluntary functions have been stopped. This gives our body uninterrupted time to start the healing process of anything which has gone out of line.
2. Meditation –
Meditation is an art of calming the noise of mind and soul for the body which acts as a booster of energy for focus and increase speed, memory, and concentration power.
3. Reading –
Reading is vitamin for our mind. They not only educate and entertain us with their contents. But they exercise the brain muscles which provides any benefits like longer retention of information, improved reasoning, and analytical capabilities, expand the storage capacity.
4. Exercise –
There is only one body that is given to us which will be our only house till the duration of our stay on this planet. Does this make you understand the extent of care this house requires? There will not be any replacements or reconstruction given to us at least not so easily. This means working out every part of the body along with proper care is an indispensable need today.
5. Healthy diet –
We don’t expect our cars to move without providing the appropriate and needed amount of fuel to them. The same is with our bodies. To get the best we need to consume the best.
6. Everyday routine –
Routines help us like automated processes. It helps to avoid wasting time on unnecessary activities. We get more done in a day if we know what we need to do next. It helps us to not be overwhelmed with piling tasks and approaching deadlines.
7. Take breaks –
Out body and mind are like machines. They need intermediate resting time to avoid overheating leading to full collapse. To dodge this from happening, we need to take a break intentionally. Pomodoro technique is one of the most efficient ways of taking forced breaks which ultimately helps us to improve our efficiency.
8. Practice gratitude –
Think of all the struggles you went through in your past. At that time didn’t you wonder whether you will be able to overcome it or not? But here you are now. You not only passed those obstacles but emerged as a proud winner. Therefore, be thankful for whatever you have and whatever you are today. Be grateful for this life and everything which has been given to you that makes your life easier than a lot of people. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have the things you take for granted. When you will start practicing gratitude you will appreciate life more and as well as every struggle which comes with it.
9. Selective socialization –
It is said that you are the sum of 3 of the people whom you spend your time with. Therefore, invest your time wisely. Be aware of the nature of socializing which you do. Take note of any red flag you find in your circle. You don’t want to get into a spiral of toxic traits because they are infectious and your life is too valuable for it.
10. Celebrate victories –
Life is made up of ups and downs and both of them are utterly necessary to understand the real meaning of life. You struggle and hustle day and night to make your dreams come through. Then isn’t it necessary to celebrate those victories no matter small they are. This is a reward, a way of respecting yourself for all the times you refused to stay down and got up by yourself, for yourself.
Habits are capable to either make us or mar us.
